Before World War ll, Dessau was the center of the Bauhaus, an innovative school of art, design, and architecture. The school building, where teachers and students lived and workshops were held, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I found the design a little cold, but I loved the photographs of everyone happily working on their projects. The windows were distinctive, too.

I was impressed by a video that showed how large panes of glass were manufactured. I love watching people working.
On the Saturday we visited, Dessau was quiet and almost deserted, which I found very relaxing. As I walked to the Bauhaus Museum, I spotted a post office right across from the museum!
It was the former Dessau Central Post Office, built around 1900. It was damaged during World War II and later rebuilt. The tower was rebuilt slightly lower than it had been originally.
Today, the building houses a postal bank and postal services.
I mailed a postcard there.
